Medication Management
Thoughtful, Collaborative, and Part of Ongoing Care
For some clients, therapy provides the support and change they are looking for on its own. For others, medication can be a helpful addition at certain points in treatment. When used appropriately, medication can help with things like mood, anxiety, attention, or emotional regulation, which can make it easier for clients to fully engage in therapy and daily life.
At Pikes Peak Family Counseling, medication management is offered as part of ongoing treatment for clients who are actively participating in therapy at our practice. We do not offer medication management as a standalone service. This model allows our team to provide more thoughtful, holistic, consistent, and individualized care.
A Team Approach to Treatment
One of the most important parts of medication management at PPFC is collaboration. Our nurse practitioner works closely with each client’s therapist so that medication, therapy, and overall treatment goals are all working together rather than separately.
This team approach helps us look at the full picture, including emotional health, stress, school or college demands, family relationships, sleep, and day to day functioning. Decisions about medication are made carefully and adjusted over time if needed, always with the client’s overall well being in mind.
When Medication May Be Considered
Medication may be considered when a client continues to feel stuck, overwhelmed, or emotionally drained even while working hard in therapy. It can be helpful for concerns related to anxiety, depression, attention and focus, mood regulation, and other emotional or behavioral challenges. Not every client needs medication, and for many clients therapy alone is enough. If medication is considered, it is always discussed carefully and decided together with the client, family when appropriate, therapist, and nurse practitioner.
Medication Management at Pikes Peak Family Counseling
Because our medication services are part of a larger treatment plan, clients must be actively participating in therapy at Pikes Peak Family Counseling in order to work with our nurse practitioner. This allows our team to communicate, coordinate care, and create a treatment plan that is thoughtful, personalized, and consistent.
If you are a current PPFC client and would like to learn more about medication management, talk with your therapist or reach out to our admin team to discuss whether this could be a helpful part of your treatment plan.
