Maya Berns, LSW
Maya Berns (she/her) is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) who completed her Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, and families across a variety of settings, including supporting youth involved in the criminal legal system, providing school-based social work services, and practicing as a trauma-focused family therapist. These experiences have shaped her understanding of the many factors that influence an individual’s emotional well-being and have strengthened her passion for creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard and understood.
Her therapeutic approach is grounded in Person-Centered Theory, recognizing that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience and that each individual brings their own experiences, identities, relationships, strengths, and challenges to the therapeutic process. She strives to meet each client where they are and work collaboratively with them to identify goals and approaches that feel meaningful and appropriate for their unique needs.
Maya believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of meaningful change and works to create a space rooted in trust, empathy, compassion, and nonjudgment. Her goal is to ensure that clients feel respected, valued, and supported as they work toward greater understanding, healing, and growth.
