Individual Therapy

Support, Growth, and a Space to Be Yourself

Individual therapy gives children, teens, and young adults a place to talk openly, understand what they are going through, and learn how to handle life in a healthier and more confident way. Between ages 11 and 21, a lot of change happens. School, friendships, family relationships, identity, independence, college, and future plans can all feel exciting, stressful, confusing, or overwhelming at different times.

Many clients start individual therapy because they feel anxious, down, overwhelmed, angry, stressed, or not like themselves. Others come to therapy after a difficult experience or during a big life transition. Some are not sure exactly what is wrong, but they know they want things to feel different. Individual therapy gives them a space to slow down, talk through what is happening, and start figuring things out.

Individual therapy can help clients work through many different areas of life, including:

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Depression and low mood

  • Disordered eating and body image concerns

  • Anger and frustration

  • School stress or academic pressure

  • Friendship and social challenges

  • Family changes or conflict

  • Life transitions and college adjustment

  • Self esteem and confidence

  • Grief or difficult experiences

Therapy also helps clients learn practical skills like managing emotions, handling stress, communicating better, setting boundaries, and making decisions with more confidence.

Therapy That Fits Real Life

At Pikes Peak Family Counseling, we offer individual therapy in person in Colorado Springs and through telehealth across Colorado. For some students, we can also coordinate virtual sessions during an off period at school through the counseling office when available. This allows clients to attend therapy without missing classes, activities, or work.

We work with each client and family to make sure therapy fits into real life and feels manageable, consistent, and helpful.

Getting Started with Individual Therapy

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but many clients feel relieved once they have a place where they can talk openly and start working through what is going on. Over time, therapy can help clients feel more confident, more understood, and more prepared to handle challenges in their life.
